Matt Coats

Matt’s work is centered on business transformation through business and technology architecture, process modeling and program management disciplines. At TIAA, Matt serves as a Senior Business Architect helping translate the company's retail strategy into value creation for the customer and the firm. His primary role is developing business and operating models, multi-faceted investment roadmaps supported by robust business cases. With his critical thinking, curiosity and broad experience base, he is able to connect the dots from corporate legal structure to business and financial models, to operating models and the underlying processes and technology platforms.

Matt started his career with Accenture serving clients worldwide on complex multi-million dollar engagements, including Sprint, Apple Computer, Great Western Financial, Pacific Bell, Pacific Gas & Electric, the UK DHHS and the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency. As part of the World Headquarters advanced technology group, Matt helped refine methodologies, developed the firm-wide practice strategy to address the networking revolution and was one of the one of the very first consultants to join Accenture’s Center for Strategic Technology in Palo Alto.

After earning his MBA, Matt shifted his focus from technology solutions to business transformation & performance. Since then he has served as a lead business and program architect at several financial services institutions, including Royal Bank of Canada, PNC Bank, and First Citizens Bank. Matt earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA with academic honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
